Monday 4:00pm – Wednesday 5:30pm   A versatile and distinctive lap quilt, a coordinating pillow case and an incredible purse organizer. What do they have in common? Well, for one, they’ll be yours. They’re also the most enjoyable of ways to experience some innovative and streamlined new sewing techniques – methods you’ll incorporate into lots of other projects. And …. they’re the items you’ll complete in Connie Palmer’s fun and truly fantastic retreat workshop! All materials are provided, so come with the tools you can’t sew without, and have perhaps the best days of your sewing year.

Let’s talk about the Zig Zag Quilt first – you’ll start on this right away Monday evening. An amazing project, definitely fun for an experienced quiltmaker and easy enough for a beginner, this quilt is full of fabulous techniques and details. And although it looks as though it’s taken months to make, you will accomplish it during your retreat. Connie’s clever design allows you to make great progress, quickly, and there’s an excellent chance you’ll finish in time to make your coordinating pillowcase, too. Learn some of Connie’s most creative and clever construction techniques, and see all the ways her favorite ruler makes it so very simple. As fabulous for a dorm room as a baby shower this is a quilt that, with a change of fabrics, can be as appropriate for the man in your life as the most elegant bedroom in the house. Discover the magic in the ingredients, as you use a special ruler to create the zig zag trim and twisted zig zags; then piece the ladder strips and construct the quilt center. Suddenly, your top is done!

The pillowcase, in coordinating fabrics, features the same ingenious design details as your quilt.

Now, about the purse (or tote) organizer, which you’ll start and finish on Wednesday. It’s the most practical, pretty, fun-to-make and even-better-to-use accessory, and the purse solution you’ve been looking for. We’re all pretty tired of digging around in the bottom of our purses and totes, feeling for what we need, aren’t we? And then there’s the problem of re-organizing every time you switch from your carry-it-all tote to a reasonably sized handbag ….. But wait! Here’s the solution! An organizer with lots of pockets to store things, made with fabric that’s easy to see without a flashlight. Best of all, you can use just one, with elastic and button ends, for smaller bags, or join several together for really large bags.

What could be more perfect? Crafted just for your retreat experience, your completed purse insert may go home inside your bag! Fantastic! By the time you go home, you’ll have not only three projects, directions for quilting and binding your quilt, but the great satisfaction of time well spent, and a smile on your face. Connie’s workshops are known for their fun – and how much her students learn while they’re with her. You want to be one of those happy people!
