This first of a two-part series explores and resolves fitting the front bust. As Cynthia measures each student in class, you’ll see how to locate the bust point and learn which adjustments to your pattern best accommodate your own curves. Fitting the front bustline properly allows a boxy jacket to acquire flattering, comfortable fit, with the hemline parallel to the floor. It allows shifts and dresses, without fitted waistlines, the same advantages. Your shirts and blouses will not gap at the bustline, nor will your tees stretch across the front; everything will feel like it’s really yours, and you’ll be comfortable and confident wearing your garments. Walk through the necessary pattern adjustments for your own figure, practice the alteration process on sample patterns and take in what others are doing as well, in this hands-on fitting experience.
