Spread your wings and learn to needle felt by working on this felted painting of a sunflower and a butterfly. Good for the beginner and those looking to further develop their skills, this class will focus on easily creating effective backgrounds, blending wool, shading, and including fine details. Different types of wool and needles will also be explored and utilized. Come and enjoy some fibery fun! Students will learn how to: • utilize various types of wools and needles • make unique colors by blending wool • needle felt wool in a straight line • clean up edges • work in fine details • create an effective background for natural subjects • make effective use of highlights and lowlights • check one’s work and problem solve • finish and finalize the project.

    Please order the required kit directly from Karen for $25 plus shipping using the link below. A felting mat is not included in the kit but is required. Order at least one week before the class to allow plenty of time for shipping (if you are ordering less than one week before the class, you are welcome to join the class and follow along. Once your kit has arrived you can follow along with the recording, which will be good for an entire year).

    You will also need:

    • A frame is recommended but not required.
    • Needle felting tool holding multiple needles.(optional)  If you are going to buy just one, I recommend the pen style. It holds three needles. The Clover tool that holds 5 needles is helpful as well.
    • Felting mat (12 inches x 8 inches or larger is best)
    • Small sharp scissors
  • Completion Level: 50-75% complete
