Jill’s newest design, a serged jacket which can be worn with the cross-tie closure fastened or left open to drape beautifully. Either way, it makes a lovely addition to your wardrobe. To begin, you’ll take a few simple measurements: overall length, shoulder and neck width, and desired sleeve length. From there, Jill will guide you through the entire process of designing and constructing your garment, using the rolled edge for all seams.
Instructions are also included for creating an optional serger-chain tassel to embellish the closure. Fabric requirements are approximate, but most makers will need three yards (your choice of length) for the kimono and ¼ yard of contrast fabric for the band. Jill uses covered snaps for the inside closures, with your choice of covered snaps or a button for the outside closure with a tassel accent. These elements do require a bit of hand sewing. Don’t like hand sewing? Simply leave off the snaps and wear your kimono jacket open Either way, you’ll definitely be making a delightful fashion statement.
Material fee includes: Illustrated directions and measurement guide, 2– ½" snaps
