Embark on an all-day quilting adventure that empowers you to explore and confidently choose quilting motifs that enhance the very essence of the piecing on your quilt. Discover the art of background fillers – the unsung heroes that elevate your quilt, adding that perfect touch of magic.

 

In this class, you will dive into the world of selecting, drawing, and stitching a variety of background filler designs. From art quilts to modern quilt styles, learn the techniques that bring your creations to life. Be prepared for a class that is not just informative but also filled with fun as you draw and stitch your way to quilting mastery. Join us for a day of creativity, exploration, and the joy of transforming your quilts into works of art!  Bring your own fabric; see the supply list for details.

 

Note: Two students will share a machine, so sign-up with a friend or make a new one in class when you join the fun! You'll be surprised at how much you'll learn between turns at the machine.

  • Experience Level:
    • All are welcome
  • Advance Prep:
    • Cut the muslin or solid light-colored fabric into 16 10x11-inch squares
    • Make 8 quilt sandwiches
    • There is no need to pin baste.

  • Supply List:
    • Small sharp scissors or snips
    • Paper - newsprint is great
    • Ball point pen -two colors and pencil
    • At least two sheet protectors
    • Dry erase fine markers
    • Small scrap of cotton batting to erase dry erase marker marks
    • Quilter's glove
    • Reading/sewing glasses if needed
    • Anything that will make your sewing more enjoyable
    • Label all sewing items with your name

     

    Fabric requirements:

    • 1.5-yards muslin or solid light-colored fabric you may already have, no prints for quilt sandwiches
    • Batting - enough to make 8  11x10-inch squares
