Tuesday AND Wednesday 9am-5pm   From serger and embroidery machine masters, Martha Pullen Company's own Kathy McMakin and Alicia Welcher, comes another fabulous sew, serge and embroider extravaganza. This year, they take a field trip to the beach and have created a collection of beach-friendly projects - some created on the serger, others in the sewing and embroidery studio. One or two are destined to become your new favorites, and you’ll find yourself making them for your like-minded friends and family members all year long!

In just two days you can experience the ultimate: making it ALL. Serge, sew, embroider and enjoy! And if you’ve taken a class with Kathy or Alicia before, you know they deliver much more than we can possibly put into words. You get the patterns with complete directions, the embroidery designs, pre-cut kits, and workshop extras, laughter, fun and the satisfaction that comes from making beautiful things with friends new and old.

Kathy, whose first love is the serger, shares all her best tips and favorite tricks for successfully serging knits, as you complete a beautiful beach coverup. Experience serged seams, coverstitch hems, blind hems, lettuce-edge ruffles, using the differential feed and more, for a new appreciation of your serger's (and your) talents!

And the beach tote! Oh, my, what a wonderful project – also created entirely on the serger! Designed to carry all your beach necessities in style, it’s innovative bag bottom, made from window screening, lets the sand just fall right out, while keeping all your valuables securely inside. Pockets, zippers, cuteness .... it's got all the elements you want!

Alicia, embroidery master and resident tech expert, brings her own bag of tricks to a great personalized collection of beach necessities in the sewing and embroidery studio. (Well, they’ll be necessities once you have made and used them!)

Four projects, from “simply for fun” to “I can’t believe I’ve gotten along without this” include:
- Embroidering an insulated cooler, following Alicia’s tried and true methods for embroidering hard-to-hoop items, using your choice of a beach theme or monogram design.
- Embroidering medallions to adorn your favorite pair of flip-flops (just for the fun of it!) as you learn to transform almost any embroidery design into a free-standing emblem.
- Making your own terry cloth chaise lounge cover. This clever project stays perfectly in place on your chaise, and you can store all your goodies in the handy attached pockets, one of which folds up around the towel portion for easy transportation. Get tons of tips for sewing terrycloth, binding terrycloth with cotton fabric, successfully embroidering on terrycloth and more, with optional embroidery opportunities on both the terrycloth and the cotton print pockets.
- Creating an insulated beverage sleeve. Your choice of beach theme or monogram design (or maybe no embroidery, up to you). Made from cute cotton print fabric and insulated with Insul-Bright® batting, it laces up with a ribbon threaded through eyelets -- corset-style. Keeps your beverage cool, absorbs that pesky condensation and it's cute as a button, too!
