Funny Stories from Martha Campbell Pullen, Ph.D.

Thursday at Noon on the EXPO STAGE
Martha has been traveling and teaching sewing for 35+ years. She is always doing something new and pushing the edge of the envelope, and super funny things have happened along the way! At this noon-time presentation on the Expo Stage, you’ll find yourself laughing at her famous Spanx® story, her pizza board/lace story and so many others. PLUS – as a special celebration for Martha’s return to Arlington this year (during her birthday week, no less!) she will give one piece of her collection of antique clothing (an adult petticoat, circa 1890) as a door prize at the presentation.

Who Doesn’t Love a Great Scrap Quilt?

Diane Tomlinson, Associate Editor of Fons & Porter

Friday at Noon on the EXPO STAGE
Still pondering a design for all those fabrics you’ve collected? Have a favorite collection you’re wondering how to use? Or scraps begging to be a quilt? Find inspiration and then some when Diane shares Fons & Porter's ever-changing collection of scrap quilts. Many are her own, others are the work of the editorial and art team, all appearing on the pages of magazines. Throughout the show she’ll share ideas for ways to organize your scraps, a few useful tools and notions for making the quilts she’s showing, and discuss how to effectively raid your own stash to create quilts you’ll cherish as favorites.

It’s Not About Covering Your Body, It’s About Flattering Your Figure

Cynthia Guffey

Saturday at Noon on the EXPO STAGE
Enjoy a style show of loose-fitting garments showing the dramatic difference between those that are simply large enough to cover, and those that fit well. The ease of wearing clothes cut for a more casual, unconstructed look isn’t about size – it’s about fitting key areas to achieve your most flattering silhouette, which creates the most comfortable wearing, too. See how Cynthia works with color to capitalize on the look, creating lively, fashion-forward looks with patterns that are easy to fit and truly wonderful to wear.
