Don't like taking a class on an unfamiliar sewing machine? Here's an opportunity to sew on what you're used to in a new Studio at Original Sewing & Quilt Expo. Bring your machine – in good working order, a couple of extra needles and your manual (just in case). We'll provide the tables, chairs, power, pressing and cutting stations and exceptional teachers...you'll walk away inspired.

Silkcreening is Not Just for Silk

It’s easy and works on all fabrics – natural and man-made. If you’re looking for a way to personalize your clothing or quilts or create a fabric you can’t find, learning to silkscreen and marble will provide your solution. Learn to use many different textiles, including previously washed fabrics and clothing, techniques for creating your own border fabric, how to use inks to color fabric and prevent bleeding and ways to add missing colors and expand your stash. What can you do with stacks of 10½” squares? Make this quilt, of course! Stack four and then slice in a NON-random manner. Pick them up, rearrange and presto -- the blocks are formed. The math is easy and the black insert strips give this quick and simple block the look of stained glass. Creating the blocks with her construction technique allows you to create a quilt in a weekend, but you can master it in just one block. Stitch, then break apart and re-assemble your “nots” as you create this whimsical but beautiful block in class – curves and all – completely by machine.
