Freshman Embroidery

Start right, right from the start! Learn the basic language of embroidery as you uncover how to approach your projects for certain success. Begin correctly, choosing the best procedures, basic tools and appropriate supplies, including how to decide which stabilizers to use in various situations. Move on to the not-so-obvious ways used to prepare the harder stuff for stitching, as you learn about hoops and why you might use more than one; get your hands on stretchy, thick, shifty and recalcitrant fabrics as you practice preparing them for successful embroidery without stress. It's a fantastic class for embroiderers at all levels of skill and experience. (Professionals need not attend.) Counts as 3 sessions.

Embroidery Lab 101

Get started on the right foot with your first embroidery. All the theory comes into focus as you watch the thread form the beautiful, perfect stitches, then remove the hoop and finish trimming, remove your stabilizer and viola - an embroidered fingertip towel! Embroidery Software Clinic
with Debra Bohn

Whether you’re comfortable and ready to learn more, at the start of your learning curve or want to test-drive embroidery software, this is your chance! Spend the day learning to adjust designs to create a variety of custom embroideries. Discover how to create your own designs from clipart, how easy it is to change the fills and customize designs yourself to create redwork, quilting, appliqué and step-filled embroideries. Learn to create designs bigger than your hoop, and how to split them into manageable hoopings. Discuss alignment, placement and how to remove unnecessary stitches, endless embroideries, encore embroideries. Includes instructional CD. This class is appropriate for anyone who wants to experience embroidery software and learn how easy it is to use and owners of 3D or 4D Husqvarna Viking software and 3D & 4D Pfaff Creative software whether you have just the basic package or the Professional package. Exercises in class will be “hands on” and include the following modules: 4D Configure, 4D Organizer, 4D Embroidery Extra, 4D Stitch Editor, 4D Design Aligner and 4D Design Creator. A trial version of the Husqvarna Viking 4D Professional software will be available for download in class. Owners of other 3D or 4D software may choose to use what they own or download the trial version. Must be comfortable with Windows applications and using a mouse.

Enrich Your Jeans With Embroidery

Great embroidered jeans can be yours – they’ll fit, they won’t cost a fortune and they’ll have the colors you enjoy running up the leg, around the hem and on the pocket. Using embroidery and embellishment techniques, you’ll re-fashion a pair of plain jeans in class. Learn how to choose appropriate designs and prepare them for the hoop. Choose your colors and stitch away, maybe add a few crystals, too! Stabilizer Frenzy

Sunflower Wallhanging

This project has it all – embroidery, crystals, 3-D embroidery, appliqué, lacework and fabric painting. The four blocks feature different techniques. Combine embroidery with fabric painting, create a three-dimensional embroidery as an appliqué, see how easy it is to stitch a lacework appliqué and pad the center of an embroidered flower.
