Original Sewing & Quilt Expo is delighted to announce Explorations in Quilting, the latest chapter in our ever-growing response to quilters’ requests for MORE! We’ve bumped up the quilting education program with more hours of workshops, a broader curriculum with exciting projects and technique classes, launched a new quilt competition and brought together more enthusiastic retail vendors to provide the most innovative tools, patterns, books, gadgets and fabrics for quilters ever! We’ve made it our mission to bring quilters and would-be quilters a high-level, more satisfying experience in the classroom, while they’re shopping and in our carefully chosen display collections.

Most enthusiasts never get to quilt shows beyond their own communities. When Original Sewing & Quilt Expo comes to Kansas City, Missouri this autumn, many of the same vendors who routinely carry their booths to all corners of the country are present in the Exhibit Hall, with the newest and best in quiltmaking supplies and inspiration. They’ve traveled to you, so you don’t have to travel to them.

Additionally, by collecting a diverse and succinct number of quilt collections – some curated just for Original Sewing & Quilt Expo -- you can see the caliber and artistic range of highly sought-after quilts otherwise available to those in far-away cities. Following our first curated invitational exhibition last year, we are pleased to announce many specially collected quilts and quilt collections will again grace the Display Gallery in Kansas City this October 21, 22 & 23.

Please join us as we explore the developments and variations quiltmakers are pursuing today. Plan to spend some quiet time absorbing the artistry we’ve collected for you this year. It’ll be wonderful.

Georgia Quilt Show Quilt Contest – Seeking Color Harmony

“Seeking Color Harmony” is a contest designed to let you discover your inner quilter. Be it traditional or contemporary, folk or art quilt – capture whatever motivates you to quilt and create a piece to be entered into one of three categories. “Seeking Color Harmony” is a juried show and will be the feature Gallery display at Georgia Quilt Show 2010. The quilts then become a focal point of Original Sewing & Quilt Expo Fall 2010 events and will travel to Kansas City, MO and Minneapolis, MN, finishing their trek in Chicago, IL at Original Sewing & Quilt Expo’s newest location, the Schaumburg Convention Center.

Judging will occur at Georgia Quilt Show 2010 where NQA certified judges will award a $1,000 Prize for Best of Show. An additional $4,500 will be distributed for First, Second and Third place awards in each of three categories: Bed Quilt, Large Wall Quilt and Small Wall Quilt. Ribbons for Honorable Mention and Judges’ Choice will round out the recognitions.

Open the door to your own inner or outer exploration and see the quilting world expand around you!
