Tuesday 9:00am – Wednesday 5:15pm    It’s amazing! Sewing...serging...a little girl’s dress and leggings -- totally on-trend, extra-fun to wear and a really great way to discover how to make use of sewing machine accessory feet and a serger, too, so all your special touches are easy to make. PLUS you’ll make a little girl’s cross-body purse to go along. And there’s MORE: you will also receive a pattern and enough fabric to make a companion outfit for your little girl’s 18” doll, just in time for the holidays. You’ll get hands-on practice with all the easiest ways to create Connie’s wonderful details, and enjoy all Kathy’s tricks with the serger - turning ordinary into extraordinary. Even the simplest designs can, with the addition of these touches, make every one of your little girl’s outfits extra-special.

Connie started her dress using a pattern she designed herself (Marjorie, by That’s Sew Connie

) and then, well…. she did fanciful things to it, turning an already cute dress into an outstanding, special little girl’s fantasy. If you enjoy working with fine quilting cottons and the fun of combining a variety of prints in an artful way, this is a chance to do so, and learn new sewing and serging techniques at the same time.

Working with vibrant, whimsical prints from FreeSpirit

, Connie turned one small lower hemline ruffle into tiered, multi-layered “fluff” at the lower back, each tier carrying contrast baby ric-rac. The front bodice features a double ruched overlay, created using two different fabrics and … two different sizes of ric-rac. One of those prints is also found at the waistline, armhole and neck edges in perfect mini-piping, emphasizing the lines of the dress and creating a high-end finish and look.

We all know the easiest way to sew knits is on a serger! Let differential feed be your friend as you create perfect seams, edges and ruffles for your dress and on your coordinated leggings (with ankle ruffles, of course). It’s a complete look – easy to wear, easy to play in, and really, really fun to make. You’ll enjoy your serger experiences, and easily complete portions of each piece.

These two days are the perfect time to push your own sewing skills with specialty machine feet, lots of tips, serging and more, when you join Connie AND Kathy to make this outfit and its mini version. (And you’ll be able to complete the doll’s matching pieces at home if you don’t finish in class.)

Oh, by the way, did we mention Connie’s and Kathy’s classes always have the most fun?

Includes Marjorie pattern (girls size 2 – 6), all notions, trims, zipper and thread; fabric for dress and leggings in any size (2-6), fabric for 18” doll dress and leggings pattern, doll pattern, child’s purse pattern plus Connie’s and Kathy’s personal attention every step of the way.
