Monday 4:00pm – Wednesday 5:30pm   Cristy Fincher, greatly talented in her own right, and her mother, famed and highly awarded quiltmaker Sharon Schamber, team up for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in this extraordinary retreat experience. Their experience and talent are equal to the joy they take in teaching others and offering all their students artistic freedom and inspiration, technical expertise and an abundance of joy in others’ success.

Explore machine applique, hand applique, turned edge, raw edge (but not needle turn), Cristy’s favorite and Sharon’s favorite, embellishment stitches that bring your applique to life and more …. in a lively and comprehensive demonstration trunk show on Monday evening. You’ll leave with inspiration and choices to dream about! Then begin your own piece on Tuesday morning, choosing one, two or all the methods you want to incorporate in your block. With both Sharon and Cristy in the room, you’ll have personal attention when you want it, and absorb their personal construction and artistic considerations along the way. On Wednesday they’ll treat you to a morning of quilting. Discuss the approach and process, design variations and more, then practice stitching: straight line, free-motion (with lines) and more, on a pre-printed panel – the twin to your applique piece. This allows you to practice freely, and find the look you want before you start on your already appliqued block. Choose from an assortment of designs, and enjoy your time experiencing a variety of techniques in your time with Sharon and Cristy. Complete your block at home as a small wallhanging (your block will be 18” – 24” square), or consider it as the focal point of a much larger quilt.
