Register now for the exclusive, east coast premier of “A Backyard Study” – the newest art quilt from the creative minds at Sulky of America. You’ll explore a variety of quiltmaking and machine techniques, plus glorious embellishments as you create your own wallhanging under the cheerful and wise guidance of Sulky’s own Ellen Osten.
Starting with a fabric panel from Frond Design Studio, you’ll immerse yourself in the artful application of a host of both tried-and-true and brand new sewing and quilting techniques, including an updated quilt-as-you-go method. But there’s lots more: couching and applique, free motion stitching, quilting straight lines (really straight!), stitching in the ditch to best advantage, easy ways to work with invisible thread and manage metallic and heavier threads successfully … a bit of paper piecing … and how to use the machine’s built in stitches in new ways, too.
Ellen leaves no detail behind, sharing lots of tips and hints along the way, making up that vast difference between a kit and a great retreat experience. With Ellen at the helm, you’ll be surrounded by extraordinary insight, as she offers many ways to increase your stitching satisfaction, helping you become even more accomplished and confident both technically and artistically. You can count on her to use all the tools at her disposal, and the biggest of those is the machine! She’ll have you using lots of different feet to help with ease and accuracy, so you can create in the easiest ways possible. Included are the couching, ¼”, applique, edge stitching and free motion feet, the quilting bar and much, much more.
Leave with new ideas, new skills, new friends and … a gorgeous, contemporary piece of art – that YOU created!
