    Cutting Strips for Blocks
    Cut the fat quarters of the 3 different black and red prints into 1.75 inch x width of fat quarter (WOFQ) strips
    Cut (18) white strips 1.75 inch x wof.

    Cutting Block Center Squares and Corner ears
    Cut (1) 2.5 inch x WOF (width of fabric) strips from the black fabric and (1) 2.5 inch x WOF strip from the red fabric, recut into (6) precise 2.5 inch center squares. From the red only cut (4) 4.5 inch and (4) 1.5 inch border corner squares.
    Cut remainder of the red and black prints into 2 inch strips, recut the strips into (24) 2 inch x 3.5 inch block corner ears.

    Cutting Borders and Binding
    Cut (2) black fabric top/bottom borders 1.5 inch x 24.5 inch
    Cut (2) red fabric top/bottom borders 4.5 inch x 24.5 inch
    Cut (8) black border corner strips 1.5 inch x 4.5 inch
    Cut (2) black side borders 1.5 inch x 32.5 inch
    Cut (2) red side borders 4.5 inch x 32.5 inch
    Cut (4) 2.5 inch x WOF strips for binding from black

    Note: You may bring fabrics in colors of your own choosing but you must have each: light + bright + dark fabrics.

    3 fat quarters of different red prints for blocks
    3/4 yard black print for blocks and border corners
    2/3 yard red print for blocks and border corners
    1 yard white fabric for blocks
    1 yard red stripe border fabric
    2 yard black print for borders and binding
    (You can substitute dark fabrics for the black, bright fabrics for the red and light fabrics for the white).
  • Completion Level: Student should be able to complete all of the blocks needed to make the quilt top during a 3 hour class
