Monday 4:00pm – Wednesday 4:45pm You use your serger to finish seams, and you love it! It’s fast, and can easily achieve a professional finish. But did you know there are many other techniques for which your serger will give you similar advantages? By combining functions (i.e. cutting and trimming in a single pass of fabric), your serger can continue to shave time off your projects and give you the advantage of easily handling a wide range of threads and fabrics, sometimes even better than on your sewing machine. Once you’ve explored and experienced Pam’s collection of creative and practical serger techniques, your creative options will expand, and nurture your ability to construct unique and beautiful things with confidence.
Join Pam Damour for these precious 2.5 days, serging your way to confidence and an explosion of great project ideas as you become comfortable with ways to get the most from your serger. You’ll add to your sewing and serging toolbox along the way, with tips for better, faster and more satisfying stitching.
Complete 4 projects while you’re with Pam, using as many of the techniques she shares as you like. Warm up with the BEST pillowcase method ever, then proceed to learn and incorporate additional techniques as you complete the rest of the projects, including a Clamshell Tool Caddy (you’ll quilt and install a zipper on the serger), a textured table runner (showing off surface design textures and piecing techniques borrowed from the quilt world) and a gorgeous pillow, featuring ruching, piping, a zipper and pintucks – all created with the serger.
Using just cover and overlock stitches, you’ll experience making ruffles and gathers, prairie points with a twist, serger lace, pintucks, pleated windows, quilting by serger and more. Add decorative threads to your creative tool kit, learn to adjust feed dogs and tensions for different fabrics and effects and truly enjoy your newfound serger creativity and confidence. Bring your own fabric for the pillowcase and clamshell tote - see supply list for details. All notions, plus fabrics for the other two projects are provided in your materials fee.
