Learn a series of new techniques which enable you to sew clothes just like the ones you already own and love. In this longer-form interactive demonstration, you'll discuss favorite garments of fellow students (maybe yours!), identify the reasons they're so well liked, then decide what to copy and how to do it. Explore Kathy's tried-and-true steps for copying sleeves, darts, seams and gathers, learn to identify grain line, and more, as you discover how to create a whole new wardrobe -- inspired by your favorite looks and clothes. Learn to add facings, seam allowances, hemlines, smooth curves and more. You'll learn about choosing the right fabrics, and how to correctly add details like ruffles, pleats and pockets to make a garment more interesting and more "you".
  • Student Maximum: 20
  • Category(ies): Rookies and Refreshers, Experienced Sewers, Fashion Sewing, Garment Style and Design
  • Experience Level: All levels
  • Supply List: Waxed paper, permanent felt marking pens, paper scissors, Magic Transparent tape (green label) pins, measuring tape. AND: a pair of jeans, slacks or skirt with slash side pockets and a garment with details you want to copy. You can come to class without garments, but Kathy says you get the biggest bang for your buck when you bring what you want to copy! She will review the collection of garments and pick from those to demonstrate her waxed paper techniques for copying ready to wear.
