With dozens of thread options and nearly as many needle choices, how do we choose? Investigate the anatomy of needles and threads to understand how they work, and how they work together to create beautiful embroidery. Discover why minuscule changes to a needle’s anatomy create opportunities for improved stitch quality or, conversely, may be working against you. Threads, too, have a structure which influences how they stitch out. For instance, knowing how to thread your machine using both the straight-wound and cross-wound spools can eliminate breakage or fraying. Explore thread weights and styles, the effects they can create in your embroidery and the relationship between the top and bottom threads. Learn why it’s a great idea to change needle styles throughout a project, how to keep track of all the needles you’re using and how the correct needle paired with the correct thread for your embroidery design can make everything flow smoothly.
